Resolving Activation Problems & Future of BaKoMa

Dear all,

I posted this somewhere on the forum, but I figured there might be more people that did not came across this, that need help.
In case you have activation problems, and Dennis is not replying to your mails (Please contact him first!), then you can send me an e-mail tijsh111@gmail.com.

A few days ago I mailed Dennis and he told me that he is planning to do a Crowd Funding (starting on 01.10 ) to make BaKoMa open source.
Even though I'm very sceptical, I'm happy to hear that he has not forgotten about the project, and let's hope that in the end it indeed results in an Open Source Project!
Kind regards,

Tijs

That's pretty good! I want to have a glance of the source code of BaKoMa. This project would benefit Tex editor community greatly! Let us spreed the words if the crowdfunding actually happen!.

Hi,
Based on Denis his claim one would expect the crowdfunding to have started in the beginning of this month.
Unfortunately, he is back to radiosilence again (i.e. does not reply).
We'll see what happens...

Kind regards,

Tijs

It's quite sad that there are enthusiasts who want Bakoma to be alive, but Denis has not replied to our emails. Dung Le.

Dear Tijs, dear All, did somebody try recently to move BAKOMA from an old to a new computer? I have a license of 25/11/2016 under which the version 11.80 is currently operating on the old computer. I suppose, I have to unsubscribe there one and register the same version on the new computer (I know I am entitled for the second version but it is running on yet another computer). My question is whether this operation can go smoothly in the current, quite special circumstances? Does someone have a positive or negative experience of that kind? I have a belly lump of the thought that I can loose the access to BAKOMA:). Thanks to any advice and thanks to Tijs for maintaining a hope in us. Best wishes for the coming Holidays, Vladimir

Hi Vladimir,
With a (student) license Basil already has a window of 5 activations in place.
So in case you are only using it one PC right now, I suspect that the transition will go smoothly.
You don't even have to deactivate on the old PC ( Basil desired this, but it has no effect serverwise and does not influence whether or not you can activate on your new PC )
Just go for it, and in case you reach your device limit, I can help you with that.
So no worries;)

Hi Tijs, thanks so much for responding! I already did try it and I get precisely what you say: "Activation limit exceeded". I would really appreciate to get your help on that. Just to precise: I have a 2 years license (it was just enough to have this last version). Of course in the past I used it already quite a few times on various computers. Vladimir

1. Export the registry on the original computer HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa\Keys, and record the serial number of your computer's hard disk. 2. Install the original version of software on the new computer, import it into the registry, and then modify the serial number of the hard disk to the serial number of the computer above. It seems that it can run.

Hi Tijs, thank you very much for these instructions. But I got only to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa, in my old computer. But I don't see the folder KEYS there. Sorry, I am not very comfortable as Win10 Administrator:)

For the old version, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa contains HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa\share. for the new version, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa contains HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa\Keys, so it is OK to export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa.

Hi Vladimir,
I didn't compose these messages.
Even though it will probably work what @mathlab is saying, I can imagine that it might be too complex.
Please send me an email on tijsh111@gmail.com and I will help resolve your device limit.

Dear Mathlab, dear Tijs. I managed to export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BaKoMa\share into a file. The rest of operation looks scary for me. I found the disk serial number but where to insert the serial number of hard disk? My email is kazakov@lpt.ens.fr. I will be grateful to any of you if you write me the instructions. Many thanks again!

No updates on the status of the project.
Denis is also not replying to any emails.
I find it really hard to understand why he makes it this hard.
